LVAD: Device that diverts blood from left ventricle through pump to aorta used in patients with severe refractory cardiac failure
ECMO: Respiratory and cardiac support with oxygenation of blood by machine via venous-venous or venous-arterial access
Total artificial heart: Device that replaces both failing ventricles and all 4 cardiac valves as bridge to transplant
