Represent remnants of paramesonephric (müllerian) or mesonephric (wolffian) ducts
Located in broad ligament between ovary and fallopian tube
When located at fimbriated end of fallopian tube, they are called hydatid cysts, or cysts of Morgagni (smaller in size, averaging < 2 cm)
Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System and Risk Stratification
Paraovarian cyst is considered to be category 2 based on Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS), a.k.a. O-RADS 2
Risk stratification: Almost certainly benign category (1% risk of malignancy)
