              • Coal worker's pneumoconiosis (CWP)
            • Synonyms

              • Simple pneumoconiosis, complicated pneumoconiosis, progressive massive fibrosis (PMF), anthracosis, anthracosilicosis
            • Definitions

              • Silicosis and CWP: Lung diseases due to inhalation of inorganic mineral dusts
              • Simple or chronic pneumoconiosis: Lung nodules < 1 cm, more profuse in upper lung zones, often with associated hilar/mediastinal lymphadenopathy
              • Complicated pneumoconiosis (PMF): Coalescence of nodules into larger lesions > 1 cm in diameter
              • Acute silicoproteinosis: Resembles alveolar proteinosis, develops within weeks after heavy dust exposure
              • Caplan syndrome: CWP + rheumatoid arthritis + necrobiotic nodules
              • Chronic interstitial pneumonia: Pulmonary fibrosis
